8 Ways To Donate + Volunteer In DFW This Holiday Season

The hustle and bustle of the holidays can get pretty busy with holiday meal prep, Christmas shopping, decorating the house, and anticipation for upcoming festivities. But, sometimes, it's easy to get lost in the frenzy and forget the true meaning of the season! So, if you're looking to add gratitude and goodwill to your holidays, we've got the perfect list of where you can donate and volunteer this Thanksgiving and Christmas! And, we'll continue to update this post throughout the season with more ways you can give back to the DFW community.

Trains at NorthPark

The perfect family-friendly trip is right in your backyard at the Trains at NorthPark! Take a step into the mall to see the 1,600 feet of train tracks rolling from coast to coast across America with sights like the Golden Gate Bridge, Grand Canyon, New York City, and Dallas. You can even spot a few visitors from outer space, who are ready to celebrate the holidays DFW style! 😉 The Trains at NorthPark are presented by the Bank of America as the largest fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, which has raised over $13 million for 40,000 families since 1987. So, when your family visits through January 6th, you'll be helping to provide essential medical care for children as one of the most fulfilling ways to give back!

Tarrant Area Food Bank

While you're preparing your Thanksgiving and Christmas events, you can give the gift of a donation on behalf of your loved ones to the Tarrant Area Food Bank! This year, you can choose items straight from a gift catalog to donate to families in need. Tarrant Area Food Bank will then send an ECard to your loved one with art from the catalog to share that the donation was made in their honor. And, the catalog is even bigger and better this year with 400 additional smaller non-profits participating to give back even more to the community during the holiday!

A Christmas Carol

It isn't Christmas without watching the classic "A Christmas Carol" performed live! And, the Dallas Children's Theater will be putting on the famous play based on the Charles Dickens novel from November 25th through December 24th. And, all the donations collected at the end of the show and throughout the holiday season will benefit the North Texas Food Bank. So, don't be a Scrooge, and be sure to enjoy the show and help provide meals to others this Christmas! "God bless us every one!"

The Salvation Army DFW Angel Tree

Be an angel by adopting an Angel this year with The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program across the DFW! It's easier than ever to support a child or senior adult during the holidays by adopting an Angel online, scanning the QR code at signs near Angel Trees, or by picking up at Forgotten Angel tag at participating Walmarts and malls. Then, drop off your new and unwrapped through a drive-thru located at multiple sites around North Texas! The last day to adopt and drop off a gift is on December 3rd with a full guide below!

Toys for Tots

75 years of toys, another year of giving back! Toys for Tots is celebrating its big milestone anniversary this Christmas, which means it's the perfect time to donate! While you're shopping for toys for your own kiddos, grab a few extras that are new and unwrapped to drop in the collection boxes all around the DFW. Plus, you can also donate online, if you're all about doing your holiday shopping (and donating!) through the web!

SPCA's home for the holidays

The memories of adopting a pet during the holidays last a lifetime! And, SPCA has multiple ways you can support furry friends during their Home for the Holidays event! When you head to NorthPark from November 25th through December 23rd, stop by the Adoption Pavilion to take home sweet adoptable pets, along with festive holiday merchandise, every day from noon to 6 PM. Around the corner, you'll also find unique dog homes and cat condos created by the American Institute of Architects Dallas and TEXO, The Construction Association to be auctioned from November 17th through December 4th. Even if you don't head to NorthPark, you can also provide support funds and animal care + programs in North Texas with a donation online!

Dallas Life

Anybody else ready for a great Thanksgiving turkey with all the fixins'? Well, you can help fry up a few turkeys for the community during the Dallas LIFE's Turkey Fry! On November 23rd, you can volunteer to fry turkeys, help in the kitchen, host game time with seniors, and decorate Dallas LIFE for the holidays ahead of your family festivities. Plus, you can also buy one of the turkeys being fried for $50 to help provide a donation to Dallas LIFE that will feed 10 people! Pick-up is during the volunteer day on November 23rd from 10 AM to 2 PM. You can even give a donation to a "holiday table" that will provide a meal to those who need it during the season. Donations can be made in honor of your loved ones, too, who will receive a letter of recognition for the gift made in their honor!

CASA OF COLLIN COUNTY

Give the gift of joy this Christmas to children in protective care during the CASA of Collin County's Holiday Gift Drive! You can contribute to the children's gift lists at Target and Amazon to celebrate the season of giving, as well as contact CASA of Collin County for additional ways to support kids in need.

We'll be updating this post throughout the season with more opportunities to donate and volunteer around the DFW!

Add it to the holiday love list! 💕✨
